Fees

The cost for 30 half-hour lessons for the 2024-25 school year is $1,165. Lessons run throughout the entire school year.
Fees can be paid in full or in monthly installments.
Purchase or rental of instruments, repair, supplies, and music is determined by each teacher, and are the financial responsibility of the student/parent.

Two Teacher Policy

Registration

Registration and payment takes place on the ACTIVE Network. 信用卡是必需的，并将根据您选择的费用表自动收费.

Returning Students

New Music Students

Please complete the Private Lesson Interest Form, and a teacher will contact you to confirm lesson availability. 如果你已经保证了和老师一起上课的时间，在ACTIVE网络上注册.

Absence and Cancellation Policy Revision

Music teachers are required to make up one student excused absence (illness, family emergency, last minute rescheduled away game of a GA sport, or other personal reason) per semester, and any teacher absences that may occur throughout the year.

In order for an absence to be considered excused:

Illness: The instructor must be notified by 7am on the day of the illness. The teacher must be informed by email in addition to informing the school.
Personal Reason: Notification must be given to the instructor 7 days in advance.
Last minute rescheduled away game: This is defined as it being rescheduled in less than 2 weeks. 必须尽快通知教练，至少提前24小时通知. If less than 24 hours in advance, the instructor will not be able to make up or reschedule the lesson.

Lessons that fall on days that there is no school will be rescheduled. If GA has a snow day, virtual lessons may be offered. Attendance in an online lesson is the same as attending a lesson in person. If a student does not show up for a scheduled lesson, instructors will not be able to make that lesson up.

Sports Note

Refund Policy

If a student does not wish to continue private lessons, notice of withdrawal must be provided within the first two weeks of lessons. A refund will be provided minus any fees for lessons completed.

Summer Lessons

Please consult with your child's teacher to schedule lessons prior to registering. If you have any questions, please contact Hannah Doucette.

Drop off and Pick up

Summer Absence and Cancellation Policy

Lesson Times

Middle/Upper School lessons typically take place once a week during school hours. Due to the 7-day rotation, students will have a different meeting time each week. Lessons alternate between study halls, break, ensemble, lunch, and any other times deemed appropriate by GA. 学生被要求在每节课的课程表上标注未来的上课时间，并将收到一封包含下周课程表的电子邮件.

MS clubs note: Private music lessons take precedence over MS clubs. If a student is scheduled for a lesson during the time a club meets, the student should attend their lesson.

1st and 2nd Grade String Lessons

Violin and Cello (Suzuki Method)

我们在一年级和二年级采用铃木教学法开设小提琴和大提琴课程. In order to be in line with the Suzuki philosophy, these lessons do require the participation of a parent or guardian. As reflected in the Suzuki Triangle (parent, teacher, and student working together to reach a goal), the parent/guardian also practices at home with the student on a daily basis. Please visit the Suzuki Association website for further information about the method or feel free to email Hannah Doucette with any questions.

In addition to the weekly private lesson, students are also highly encouraged to participate in the Suzuki Group class, which meets once a week for 30 minutes. Piano Lessons (Traditional)

Students attend lessons once a week and use a traditional approach to learning. No parent/guardian participation is required.

Percussion Lessons

To achieve confidence in music literacy as quickly as possible, GA percussionists develop a "mallet first" foundation in their music reading. Students taking percussion will achieve mastery of the Rubank Elementary Method for Marimba, A Fresh Approach To Mallet Percussion Method, and the Essential Elements for Band (Percussion Book 1) and then move freely about the percussion section. Voice Lessons

Germantown Academy offers private voice lessons to students in 6th Grade or older. Please do not request voice lessons if your child is younger than 6th Grade.
